Glasses, what glasses?
Over the past 12 months or so, I’ve noticed it’s harder and harder to see what I’m doing in the workshop. I blamed it on the lighting (which is excellent), the fact that I have not been spending as much time in the workshop (which is not excellent), being tired, being cranky...everything but age. I bought dollar store reading glasses for the workshop. Then I bought dollar store reading glasses for my purse, then for the computer, then for work, and then I finally gave in and had my eyes checked by an Ophthalmologist. It was either that or grow longer arms. Crap...I actually need real glasses.

The doc asked me how long I’d been noticing problems, and I realized I’ve probably been ignoring this for a lot longer than I’m willing to admit to. I don’t know why, I am not all that concerned about growing older, and glasses can be fun and funky, so why not? Denial? Laziness? Who knows.

So now I have glasses. Real glasses. It turns out that some of my previous drawings and other work are actually more impressive to me now that I can honestly see them. It also turns out that some of what I thought looked pretty good could use a lot more work :)

I’m glad I had them checked. The idea that my creative vision could be put at risk by ignoring the signals my body was sending is ludicrous. I stretch when my muscles tell me they need it, I go to sleep when I am tired, and if can find my glasses, I will put them on and go back into the workshop.

Cheers
